BUTTE — Police are searching for a man who pointed a handgun at a Safeway employee Sunday afternoon.

The suspect made off with a small amount of prescription medication, Butte-Silver Bow Sheriff Ed Lester said in a press release. No injuries were reported.

The robbery happened at 3:39 p.m. Sunday at the Massachusetts Street Safeway.

The sheriff said the suspect entered the store and went to the pharmacy counter, where he brandished the handgun. The suspect demanded medication then fled on foot.

Police believe the getaway vehicle may have been a mid-90s model Jeep sport-utility vehicle.

Lester encouraged anyone with information on this crime to call 406-497–1120 or Crimestoppers at 406-782-7336.
