Wildfire preparedness event set for May 3 in Nye

A wildfire risk reduction and advance wildfire preparedness event will be held at the Nye Volunteer Fire Station on May 3 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Fifteen-minute presentations will be given on the half hour. The line-up of topics includes: Landscaping for risk reduction; eEvacuation preparedness in case of wildfire; Firewise emergency preparedness materials; instructions for acquiring home inventory software; information on emergency communications and the 911 system; risk reduction and fire mitigation grants; and family fire safety and evacuation planning.

The event is free to the public. Food and door prizes will be given away.
