ST. IGNATIUS — A 17-year-old St. Ignatius boy is at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula after being stabbed multiple times by a 14-year-old boy, also from St. Ignatius.

Law enforcement received a call around 1:30 a.m. Sunday from a woman who was driving the stabbing victim to St. Luke Community Healthcare in Ronan.

The victim had multiple stab wounds to the back and one to the head, and was later transferred to Missoula, where he is in critical but stable condition, according to Dan Yonkin, Lake County undersheriff.

The 14-year-old boy is in custody, and law enforcement say there were other people present at the suspect’s home where the stabbing took place at the time of the incident. The names of the victim and the suspect are not being released by the police at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
