Meetings have been scheduled next week to inform the public and take comments about the Yellowstone Basin Advisory Council's draft report of recommendations for the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation.
The final report will assist DNRC staff in preparing a state water plan that will be presented to the 2015 Montana Legislature.
Draft recommendations crafted by the council include: drought readiness, integrated water quality and quantity management, water rights administration, watershed planning, groundwater and surface water interaction, instream flow maintenance, water storage and funding for water-related projects and planning.
A digital copy of the complete draft report is available on the Yellowstone River Basin Water Supply Initiative website at http://www.dnrc.mt.gov/mwsi or by request to Jim Robinson, DNRC water planner, 406-444-4247, firstname.lastname@example.org. The public comment period will close at 5 pm on May 23.
Public meetings will be held in Glendive at Dawson College on Monday; in Forsyth at the Rosebud County Library (downstairs) on Tuesday; in Billings at the Montana State University Billings Library Lecture Hall Room 148 on May 14; and in Big Timber at the Carnegie Library (downstairs) on May 15. All meetings will begin at 7 p.m. and last about two hours.
