The Park County Library System’s “Food for Fines” program begins Nov. 30 and ends Dec. 31.
All three county libraries are participating in the program, in which patrons may bring certain types of food items to their libraries to have their overdue fines forgiven. The program does not apply to interlibrary loan fees or to lost or damaged items. Nonperishable, commercially prepared food items for people or pets are acceptable for wiping out overdue fines. Homemade food items cannot be used.
The foods will be given to appropriate community agencies for distribution to those in need. Donations will be accepted even from those who do not owe fines.
