The Beartooth Pass will close to auto travel on Oct. 11, another sign that fall is on the way. A snowstorm could close the pass before Oct. 11.

Gates will be closed at Long Lake, 17 miles from the intersection of Wyoming 296 (Sunlight Basin) and U.S. 212 and at the gate at the Montana state line, 25 miles from Red Lodge, by 8 a.m. on Oct. 11.

In Yellowstone National Park, the Tower Fall to Canyon Junction road over Dunraven Pass will also close on Oct. 11 at 8 a.m. All other park roads, except the road from Gardiner through Mammoth to Cooke City, will close for the season on Nov. 7, at 8 a.m. The park's North Entrance and the road to Cooke City remain open to wheeled vehicles all year, weather permitting. There could be up to 30-minute delays this fall on the road between Tower Junction and Cooke City due to a bridge replacement project.

Updated information on park roads is available 24 hours a day by calling 307-344-2117.
