CHEYENNE — The Wyoming Department of Education is seeking a court order to shut down what it says is an unlicensed school operating in Laramie.
The state filed a complaint Thursday in state district court in Cheyenne seeking an injunction against Newport International University. Attempts to reach Newport International officials were unsuccessful.
Mary Kay Hill, director of administration for the education department, said the school agreed last year to cease operations in Wyoming.
Newport International University agreed to leave after losing its court challenge to Wyoming laws requiring all private, post-secondary schools to get federally recognized accreditation.
