CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The chief architects of a plan for reducing federal budget deficit are set to explain their recommendations in Cheyenne.

Former Wyoming Senator Alan Simpson and Erksine Bowles are the co-chairmen of President Barack Obama's deficit commission.

Simpson and Bowles are scheduled to discuss their recommendations Wednesday in Cheyenne. Their report calls for implementing a combination of spending cuts and higher taxes to cut about $4 trillion from the federal budget over the coming decade.

The commission voted 11-7 last week in favor of the cochairmen's recommendations, falling short of the votes needed to send the plan to Congress for action.

Politicians in both political parties have expressed concerns about recommendations.
