With a fireline completed around the 520-acre Beach fire burning in Yellowstone National Park, fire crews will be reduced and management of the fire will be turned back to park officials on Wednesday.

Two hand crews totaling 40 firefighters were pulled from the fire on Tuesday. Two hotshot crews will remain on the fire to complete mop-up operations along the fire’s northern edge to wrap up containment of the fire Tuesday.

Cooler temperatures, higher humidity and light winds helped boost suppression efforts on Monday. Light rain fell on the fire overnight.

One heavy, two medium and one light helicopter continue to help firefighting efforts.

The fire was reported on July 18 and has been burning in the backcountry north of Yellowstone Lake’s West Thumb.
