CODY - "Yellowstone Wolves: The Real Story, No Politics" is the title for the next Draper Museum of Natural History's Lunchtime Expedition.
Douglas W. Smith, project leader for Yellowstone's Gray Wolf Restoration Project, shares the latest about the project in a free public presentation at 12:15 p.m. Oct. 1 in the Buffalo Bill Historical Center's Coe Auditorium.
Smith has studied wolves for 27 years.
Before coming to Yellowstone, he worked with wolves on Isle Royale in Michigan from 1979 to 1992 and with wolves in Minnesota in 1983. He was biologist for the Yellowstone project from 1994 to 1997 and has been with the program since its inception.
A prolific writer, Smith has produced many publications about wolves and beavers, the subject of his dissertation, as well as contributing many hours of lecture time on both topics. He lectures extensively throughout the country about Yellowstone wolves.
