BUFFALO — Visitors to the Bureau of Land Management Dry Creek Petrified Tree Environmental Education Area can now enjoy lunch in a new picnic shelter which was constructed this fall to improve the visitor services offered at the site. The new structure is located at the trailhead.
The Dry Creek Petrified Tree Environmental Education Area is a 40-acre parcel located approximately 10 miles east of Buffalo and is accessible via Tipperary Road. Facilities include a parking area, trail register, two picnic tables and a double vault outhouse. A 0.6 mile interpretive loop trail explains the paleontology and geology of the area. Exposed petrified trees are visible throughout the walking trail.
