BAIROIL - The tiny southern Wyoming town of Bairoil is once again fighting to keep its post office open.
Bairoil Mayor Doug Reasor told U.S. Postal Service officials at a meeting on Thursday that he's angry the matter is on the table for the second time in two years.
The Rawlins Daily Times reports that about 45 people attended the meeting. State officials estimated Bairoil's population was 98 in 2009.
Postal Service officials say the agency lost $8 billion last year and is looking at cost-cutting alternatives.
If the Bairoil office closes, options include having a contract driver deliver mail to an unstaffed post office. Retail sales would be discontinued or curtailed.
If officials do decide to close the Bairoil office, the public notice and review process would take months.
