CHEYENNE — A proposed bill would expand the University of Wyoming Board of Trustees to include two out-of-state members.

Current state law says the 12 members of the board must come from seven specific geographic districts in Wyoming.

Wyoming's governor appoints people to the board for six-year terms with the consent of the state Senate.

Senate File 38 is sponsored by Republicans Sen. Tony Ross, of Cheyenne, Rep. Kermit Brown, of Laramie, and Rep. Tim Stubson, of Casper.

Their bill would increase the board's membership to 14 people.

Ross said that including two members who live outside of Wyoming could bring a more national perspective to the board.
