CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Wyoming Association of Community College Trustees has scheduled the first-ever Wyoming Summit on Community Colleges for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 2 at Little America in Cheyenne. Gov. Matt Mead will deliver a keynote address at the Summit.

The summit will focus on the role Wyoming’s community colleges play — and the challenges they face — in preparing a well-trained workforce.

“We’ve invited lawmakers, educators, state officials, the University of Wyoming, and industry partners to participate in this important conversation because the challenges we face, and the solutions we’ll develop, will require truly broad-based partnerships,” said Steve Bahmer, executive director of the WACCT.

In addition to an address by Mead, the summit will include a presentation from Rick LaPlante, a former Microsoft executive and now a trustee at Northwest College in Powell. His presentation, “Preparing Students for 2018 and Beyond,” sets the stage for a student panel discussion, an industry panel discussion, and a session focused on improving the colleges’ completion rates.
