CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Wyoming Department of Education has given educators in the state a sneak preview of how state schools will be graded on accountability.

The agency presented information Tuesday during a conference in Cheyenne on how schools might fare under a grading system that is being developed.

Schools would be graded in one of four categories: exceeding expectations; meeting expectations; partially meeting expectations; or not meeting expectations.

Using data from last year, the department was able to tell how many schools fell into each category. The agency did not identify individual schools in each category. That information will be released later.

Officials tell the Wyoming Tribune Eagle that the system will be ready in the fall of 2014.
