ROCK SPRINGS — Wildfire conditions will remain in effect in Sweetwater County until it receives measurable amounts of precipitation, according to Sweetwater County Fire Warden Mike Bournazian.

The Sweetwater County Fire Department has responded to four wildland fires in the last four days.

A wildland fire is a non-structure fire that occurs in vegetation or natural fuels, according to the National Wildfire Coordinating Group.

Most of the fires have been controlled to less than a couple acres each.

“They all have been human related in one way or the other,” Bournazian said.

He said the public needs to remain vigilant in fire preventions.

“Fire conditions are still present, and with the prolonged lack of moisture with our very dry fuels, all it takes is a spark or careless act to start a wildfire,” Bournazian said.
