CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Former Wyoming Gov. Jim Geringer has been named to the board that oversees a national standardized test for students.
The test is called the National Assessment of Education Progress and it's overseen by the National Assessment Governing Board.
Board officials say they asked Geringer to be on the board because of his strong background in education issues. Geringer's term will expire in 2017.
Former Mississippi Gov. Ronnie Musgrove also is on the board.
Geringer is a Republican who was governor of Wyoming from 1995-2003. He served in the Legislature from 1983-1994.
