RIVERTON, Wyo. — Police are investigating the abduction of a Riverton girl from her home.

A 9-year-old girl was taken from her bedroom at about 3:40 a.m. Saturday.

Capt. Eric Murphy of the Riverton Police Department says the girl's parents went to her room after they heard a scream and found the screen on her window had been cut and the girl missing.

Police found the girl walking along a nearby street about 40 minutes later. She told them that an older man wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and blue shoes had abducted her.

Murphy would not discuss whether the girl was injured. He says her parents took her to get medical attention.
