'Take a Stand Against Meth' winners

The Wyoming Meth Project’s “Stand Against Meth” art contest officials awarded $18,000 on Friday.

The contest encouraged middle and high school students to learn about the dangers of methamphetamine use and share their knowledge while expressing artistic creativity. Teens from 42 communities around Wyoming contributed.

Winners included:

Ashton Abarr, of Meeteetse, won the People’s Choice Award of $1,000.

1. “Before Meth,” Carlie Edelman, Douglas, $6,000.

2. “I used to look,” Ashlyn Pearson, Gillette, $3,000.

3. “Forgiving Tears,” Angel McFerrin, Rawlins, $2,500.

4. “Not Even Once,” Alia Gonzales, Buffalo, $2,000.

5. “Game of Meth,” Reach High, Casper, $1,500.

6. “Blow your life,” Brianna Gonzales, Rawlins, and “Be Warned,” Tyler Castaline, Etna, $500 each.

7. “Just Once,” Sydney Montgomery, Worland, and “Consequences,” Samantha Adkins, Cheyenne, $500 each.
