CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A winter storm watch has been posted for a large part of central and eastern Wyoming.

The National Weather Service says a storm system was expected to primarily impact areas east of the Continental Divide.

Included in the watch area are Cheyenne, Casper, Riverton, Rawlins, Laramie, Sheridan, Gillette, Wheatland and Cody.

Rain was expected to begin on Wednesday night in lower elevations in central Wyoming with snow possible in the mountains. But by Friday, the rain could turn to snow in all areas Thursday night and continue into Friday.

Around a foot of snow is possible in the mountains and up to 8 inches is possible in some cities and towns.
