AFTON, Wyo. — An accident at a construction site in western Wyoming has claimed the life of a 23-year-old man.

Police say the construction worker was run over by an excavator about 6:30 p.m. Monday at the construction site in Afton.

Police said the operator of the equipment didn't see the worker behind him.

The crew was replacing an irrigation pipe across U.S. Highway 89 at the time. The company involved in the project is based in Idaho.

The name of the victim has not been released, pending notification of family.
