CASPER, Wyo. — A lottery official has warned the newly formed Wyoming Lottery Board of the pitfalls that arise when starting a lottery.
Tennessee Lottery CEO Rebecca Hargrove has helped shepherd other states through the complicated process of launching state-sponsored games of chance.
Hargrove told the board Tuesday that a lottery is a "zero-mistake business" and that it has an overwhelming amount of work in front of it.
The board has a target of getting the Wyoming Lottery Corporation off the ground by the beginning of 2014.
Hargrove says the most important thing the board can do is hire an industry-savvy CEO as soon as possible.
The board chose Cheyenne as its home office.
