With 64 years in Medicine, boarded in two fields, 30 years in family practice in Whitefish, seven years in the Reno VA, with two Secretary of Veterans Affairs awards, teaching medical students for two medical schools, 12 years volunteering at Bozeman Community Clinic, maintaining my license, taking course work, I feel well-qualified to highly recommend Kathleen Williams as the person to replace Greg Gianforte as Montana's U.S. representative.
Whenever I write Rep. Gianforte or Sen. Daines about medical concerns I get a mindless, patronizing reply about the expense of the Affordable Care Act which they couldn't repeal or offer a better alternative. Trump cut off cost-sharing reduction payments to insurance companies which increased costs for patients and, in a year, reduced insured Americans by 2 percent. Republican compassion? A joke.
Williams has made fixing our broken health care system her top priority. She wants to allow Americans aged 55-64 to buy into Medicare, allowing a viable age group to stay in the work force, thus diluting risks for young and old. Her practical Healthcare Policy Whitepaper is a sensible 15-minute read at kathleenformontana.com. She is adamant about protecting our outdoor heritage. Williams is a proven legislative problem solver, compassionate, tough and independent, and what is important — she cares about Montana and her citizens.
Vote Kathleen Williams by mail or June 5 in the ballot box. She'll serve us well and get things done.
