It seems to me that the issue of racism is less a problem of hatred of another racial/ethnic/cultural group than it is the belief that we might be superior to another race/ethnic/cultural group. This is usually along the lines of comparing our intelligence to that of other race/ethnic/cultural groups. This violates our Constitution that "all men are created equal" and most religious tenets that none of us is superior to another no matter their racial/ethnic/cultural origins.

We do this in ways that we believe to be harmless in many cases, but in others we are dead serious in our positions. As I recall there is a Biblical injunction that exhorts all of us to seek the elevation of our neighbor, and never his belittlement.
