Trump's plan to repeal the Clean Power Plan will harm Montana's economy and threaten to kill jobs in the Clean Energy sector which have been growing at a faster rate than jobs in the Fossil Fuel industry. This president and his EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt want to repeal America's only federal standard for carbon pollution on existing power plants. However, repealing the Clean Power Plan would harm America's rapidly growing clean energy economy and rig the system in favor of fossil fuel companies and interests that are friendly to this administration. This not only effects the economy of Montana, but also the health of the people and the environment for the benefit of the fossil fuel industry and its minions.
Trump cannot stop the shift to a clean energy economy started by the previous administration. It's already underway as states, cities and businesses across the country are moving forward with solutions that reduce air and carbon pollution, grow the clean energy economy and create good-paying American jobs. The president should try looking forward instead of backward and help with this process.
Trump promised to create jobs, protect Americans and ensure clean air and water. Instead, he insults us with his dirty scheme to repeal the Clean Power Plan. This is a betrayal to all of us. Montana won't stand for it, and neither will I.
