I was shocked by the recent vote of the City Council to not approve Ken Crouch as a member of the Human Rights Advisory Commission. I cannot think of anyone better qualified to serve on this board than Ken. He is a retired minister, a former Council member, and a lifetime advocate for fairness and justice for all people. He was a leader in the effort to get the city to pass the Non Discrimination Ordinance. He has devoted his life to seeing that everyone gets a fair share and is treated equally. I join with the editorial board of The Gazette in requesting the Council to reconsider their decision when all members are present.
