 Position Summary 

This position is responsible for performing, under supervision, challenging engineering work but with limited direct responsibility.  Specific job positions may include planning, designing and/or overseeing construction, installation, operation and maintenance of components, systems and facilities used in the generation, transmission, distribution and utilization of electrical energy.

 

Job Description

  1. Assists in the work on smaller engineering projects or well-defined areas of larger projects.  Uses existing procedures to investigate, evaluate and assist in producing technically correct and cost effective designs or recommendations that solve ongoing problems.

 

  1. Builds relationships that will facilitate knowledge transfer, cross functional knowledge of related work groups, and ability to present work products effectively.

 

  1. Works under supervision in the field and/or home office in a variety of functions and challenging but structured work that develops competencies in the function/discipline. 

 

  1. Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using well defined engineering procedures, which may include routine and diagnostic testing of components and systems, and engineering studies.

 

  1. Continually expands and improves technical and business skill set under own initiative with instruction, guidance and direction from others.

 

  1. Assists in a variety of topics including developing innovative procedures, improved design recommendations or new or better equipment purchase recommendations.

 

Candidate Qualifications 

 Candidates must meet the basic qualifications to receive consideration.

 

   

 Basic Qualifications 

  1. Bachelor's Degree in engineering from a college or university accredited by ABET, or recognized by ABET as substantially equivalent.  Discipline required will vary by the specific job requirements.

 

 Preferred Qualifications 

  1. Internship/co-op in the energy industry preferred.

 

  1. Engineer in Training Certificate.

 Position Summary 

An I&C Journeyman (Electrical) must be able to complete any electrical task assigned. This will consist of being able to troubleshoot and maintain low and medium voltage switches associated with motors, power transformers, distribution transformers, motor operated valves, power circuit breakers and generators. They maintain solid state control system associated with the equipment listed above. They will troubleshoot and maintain programmable logic controllers. Must have the ability to check and calibrate basic protective relays, over-current over/under voltage, etc. Must have good working knowledge of schematics, logic drawings, location drawings, vendor drawings and manuals is necessary in problem solving. They must have the ability to use electrical test equipment (i.e. volt/ohm meter, Hi pot, Megger, AMP meter, brush recorders) commonly used by the craft. They may be assisting the HVAC Technician with troubleshooting and maintaining various HVAC systems and chiller units. The I&C Journeyman(Electrical) will be required to meet all requirements of the Journeyman in Training (JIT) Program within eighteen months of date of hire - consisting of time to understand plant systems and knowledge of policies and procedures.  This position will be a JIT position for 6 months prior to promotion to I&C Journeyman position.

   

Job Description

  1. Ability to troubleshoot and maintain low and medium voltage switchgear and electrical circuits
    2. Utilize all available resources (drawings and manuals) in problem solving.
    3. Must be able to work effectively with other craft.
    4. Ability to troubleshoot and maintain programmable logic controllers.
    5. Familiarity with test equipment used in the trade.
    6. Good knowledge of motors, distribution transformers, power transformers, power circuit breakers.
    7. Ability to plan and prioritize work.
    8. Ability to calibrate protective relays
    9. Ability to complete the Journeyman in Training Program required for the trade.

 

Candidate Qualifications 

 Candidates must meet the basic qualifications to receive consideration.

 

   

 Basic Qualifications 

  • TechnicalSchool degree or certification in electrical field or closely related field, or completed apprenticeship program in the electrical field.
  • Three years of industry related experience.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
