 Position Summary 

This position is responsible for day to day coordination of activities within the plant process systems and backlog of work requests for equipment and facilities.  

   

Job Description

  1. Reviews work requests for accuracy, scope and correct failure code.  Research and plan the work, assemble work packages, set appropriate due dates and priorities, track costs to budget for assigned systems and support the development of Work Standards and Equipment Strategies.

 

  1. Authorize work to be done by analyzing new work and adjust workloads based on site wide priorities.

 

  1. Review completed work activities for quality and performance. Coordinate activities that require more than one work group, such as baseline Predictive Maintenance (PDM) testing on equipment, I& E, or component rebuilds.

 

  1. Ensure critical spare parts inventory and availability through completion of required software.

 

  1. Review and track costs to the equipment and associated systems.

 

  1. Perform Outage Manager responsibilities when assigned.  Supervise crews for special maintenance activities when requested.

 

Candidate Qualifications 

 Candidates must meet the basic qualifications to receive consideration.

 

   

 Basic Qualifications 

  1. A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.

 

  1. BS degree or 3 years experience in operations and/or maintenance organizations in a large industrial facility.

 

 

 Preferred Qualifications 

  1. Bachelor's Degree.

 

  1. Five years experience in operations and/or maintenance organization in a large industrial facility. 

 

  1. Good understanding of collective bargaining agreements

 

  1. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

 

  1. Ability to work well with individuals on all levels of the organization.

 Position Summary 

This position is responsible for performing, under supervision, challenging engineering work but with limited direct responsibility.  Specific job positions may include planning, designing and/or overseeing construction, installation, operation and maintenance of components, systems and facilities used in the generation, transmission, distribution and utilization of electrical energy.

 

Job Description

  1. Assists in the work on smaller engineering projects or well-defined areas of larger projects.  Uses existing procedures to investigate, evaluate and assist in producing technically correct and cost effective designs or recommendations that solve ongoing problems.

 

  1. Builds relationships that will facilitate knowledge transfer, cross functional knowledge of related work groups, and ability to present work products effectively.

 

  1. Works under supervision in the field and/or home office in a variety of functions and challenging but structured work that develops competencies in the function/discipline. 

 

  1. Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using well defined engineering procedures, which may include routine and diagnostic testing of components and systems, and engineering studies.

 

  1. Continually expands and improves technical and business skill set under own initiative with instruction, guidance and direction from others.

 

  1. Assists in a variety of topics including developing innovative procedures, improved design recommendations or new or better equipment purchase recommendations.

 Basic Qualifications 

  1. Bachelor's Degree in engineering from a college or university accredited by ABET, or recognized by ABET as substantially equivalent.  Discipline required will vary by the specific job requirements.

Journeyman Systems Operator

 Position Summary 

The Journeyman Systems Operator (JSO) must be able to operate individual systems in the plant to support unit operation during normal operating conditions, start-ups and shutdowns.  The Journeyman System Operator is required to complete the JIT training program as set forth by the Colstrip Technical Training Department, including classroom training, on the job training, check sheets for systems in the plant, and testing requirements. Extensive knowledge of all systems is required for operating and monitoring systems and accurately troubleshooting and diagnosing problems for fast, efficient maintenance work. Special projects such as testing and clearance work will also be required.   

    

Job Description

1. Operate all plant systems to support unit operation.

2. Take readings and monitor all systems in assigned area.

3. Must be able to safely shut down and isolate systems for maintenance.

4. Train or assist in training of apprentices.

5. Keep other personnel informed of equipment status.

6. Work well as a team member with both operations and maintenance personnel.

7. Demonstrate working knowledge of steam plant systems and their interrelationships.

8. Must complete all requirements of the JIT training program as set forth by Technical Training Department.

9. Work and function well on rotating 12-hour shifts, or on dayshifts as assigned.

10. Maintain assigned cleaning area.

11. Assist maintenance as required.

 

Candidate Qualifications 

 Candidates must meet the basic qualifications to receive consideration.

 

   

 Basic Qualifications 

1. High School Diploma or Equivalent/GED

2. Minimum 3 years power plant experience or equivalent heavy industrial operations experience, or;

Completion of a formal coal-fired power plant apprenticeship/training program with a minimum of 6000 hours of on the job training.

3. Must have basic computer skills.

 

 Preferred Qualifications 

1. Ability to demonstrate working knowledge of steam plant systems and their interrelationships

2. Work well as a team member with operations and maintenance employees

3. Work and function well on rotating shifts.
