Working as a safety manager at a large mine must be a stressful job. What is the most challenging aspect of your job?
I feel the most challenging aspect of my job is keeping up with everything in a very dynamic workplace. Things can change very fast and even short time frames away can make it challenging to catch up.
How did you choose your career?
A career working with people where you can have a positive influence is a good fit for me and working in safety and health requires both to be effective.
Why do you love coming to work?
My coworkers are open, honest, and down-to-earth which makes me look forward to coming to work.
What is the most interesting part of your job?
I find it interesting how every day brings new opportunities and most of the challenges that come up are centered on a desire to improve.
What is something about you that most people don’t know or realize?
I have two Labradors that sound like a cross between a pig and a goose when they talk.
What would you be doing if this job didn’t exist?
I would likely be working in the field of safety and health in another industry.
Why have you chosen to make your home in Montana?
I grew up in Montana and I would like to always have my home in Montana. Family and friends are close; I enjoy having all four seasons, outdoor activities, and the character of Montana residents.
What is one piece of advice you give to others and why?
Stay open minded – because you don’t know everything and there might be more there than what you believe.
Who is your inspiration?
I have been inspired by those in my life who have taken a chance on me and I don’t want to let them down.
What is one thing still on your list of goals to complete in the future?
I want to become the best version of myself - and learn how to play the piano.
11. What is one of your guilty pleasures?
Being on a golf course with friends and cold beverages.
