DRUMMOND — The veteran coach paced the sidelines of the 80-yard pitch tucked between a four-lane highway and a hillside with modest inset bleachers. While his eyes followed the play, his feet followed his Trojans’ march toward the goal line yard by yard.
The Flint Creek Titans, the newly formed 8-man football team after Drummond and Granite high schools combined programs this fall, held their first joint practice for the 2014 season. The Missoulian was there to capture the latest step between the former rivals.
The coaching staff is in place for this fall’s Drummond-Philipsburg eight-man football team, as well as what Drummond and Granite high schools will call their new cooperative program.

Well, Week 5 of the Montana prep football season is gone and in the books and what a whopper it was!
There were games spread throughout the week due to school conventions, so football nuts could either take in a couple games or follow them daily through newspaper and television reports — a prep football lover’s dream.
This past week featured some dogfights.
