EKALAKA — Dustin DeFord loved fighting fires. He loved his family and his friends. And he loved Jesus.
Dustin DeFord, the Ekalaka firefighter killed in the Yarnell fire near Prescott, Ariz., was laid to rest Saturday in his hometown.
PRESCOTT, Ariz. — Funeral Services for Dustin DeFord will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at the Carter County High School Gymnasium in Ekalaka, Mont. Burial will follow in the Beaverlodge Cemetery in Ekalaka.
PRESCOTT, Ariz. — Dustin James DeFord, 24, of Prescott, formerly of Ekalaka, Mont., died June 30, 2013, while fighting fire with the Granite Mountain Hot Shots on the Yarnell fire near Prescott.
As soon as he turned 18, Dustin Deford volunteered for the Carter County Rural Fire Department in Ekalaka, embarking on a career that ended Sunday in an Arizona inferno.
