Storms cause damaging microburst in NE Montana, cut power to Williston airport

A long chain of thunderstorms on Wednesday caused a microburst that damaged property and uprooted trees near McCabe in northeastern Montana while causing power outages across the area and into North Dakota.

Lunchtime storm drops .27 inch of rain; more weather moving in from west

A thunderstorm that rumbled through at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday dropped .27 inches of rain and pea-sized hail on the Billings area. A later storm dumped .08 inches, bringing the day’s total precipitation to .35 inches. And there might be more to come.

Warm temperatures for Friday but storms forecast for Saturday

Friday’s weather may be the calm before the storm. The National Weather Service said conditions are developing that could bring severe weather on Saturday, with thunderstorms capable of producing wind gusts of 74 mph and higher, baseball-sized hail and possibly tornados east of Billings.
