HELENA - A hunter died overnight at a hunting camp in the Beartooth Wildlife Management Area near Holter Lake, authorities said Friday.

Canyon Ferry: One man died and two ice anglers' vehicles broke through the ice at Canyon Ferry Reservoir over the weekend, prompting the Broadwater County Sheriff's Office to issue a closure to all motorized travel on the lake due to unsafe ice conditions.

HELENA — Officials with Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks are considering restricting wake surfing and tubing in upper Holter Lake from the mouth of the canyon to the Gates of the Mountains.
HELENA, Mont. (AP) - The Bureau of Land Management intends to spend nearly $100,000 for emergency stabilization at the Log Gulch Campground at Holter Lake, which was damaged by wildfire earlier this year.
UPDATE: Fire officials say the Indian Trails fire near Holter Lake north of Helena is 75 percent contained and has burned about 4,400 acres, or 6.8 square miles.
HOLTER LAKE - The Indian Trail fire grew by 1,000 acres to 3,400 acres Thursday, making it the largest fire in Montana so far this year.
