J.e. Corette Power Plant
PPL Montana recently shut down its J.E. Corette power plant in Billings and sent workers home after a steam tube failed on the boiler and damaged asbestos-containing insulation. A subsequent windstorm also whipped up materials.
U.S. Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., helped Rep. Denny Rehberg campaign Monday, arguing that pollution rules on coal power plants would be softer with Rehberg in the Senate.
The J.E. Corette power plant in Billings will be mothballed in April 2015 because it will be too costly to operate under new emission reductions required by the Environmental Protection Agency, says plant owner PPL Montana.
A man-made whitewater wave sought for the Billings stretch of the Yellowstone River could get a boost next week if Lockwood irrigators endorse the plan.
