Oliver Carr, Bozeman’s prominent 6-foot-6 post, never played in a state tournament in his high school career. Of this he says, “It was really disappointing. But those high school years of basketball were some of my favorite times.”

BOZEMAN -- Center Oliver Carr scored 21 points and guard Caleb Weidenaar added 19 on Friday night as Bozeman opened Eastern AA play with a come-from-behind 61-53 victory over Billings Skyview.
Bozeman has undeniably been the most impressive boys basketball team in the state thus far. The Hawks (4-0) are the only undefeated team left in Class AA and own signature wins over Helena High and Helena Capital.
There are a lot of good high school basketball players in Montana this season. Players like Tres Tinkle and Jill Barta are becoming household names, but they’re not the only ones on lists of talented prospects.
For high school hoopsters, basketball is a year-round affair. Their high school seasons end in March, their teams play in tournaments in early summer, and then many attend camps or hit the AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) circuit after that.
