LOCKWOOD — Lockwood voters approved a special district Tuesday to build and maintain pedestrian safety improvements in the Lockwood area.
Lockwood buses about two-thirds of its 1,226 K-8 students. Safety, not distance, is the No. 1 reason. The school campus is along Highway 87, a two-lane state highway that has neither streetlights, sidewalks, walking paths nor bike lanes. The pavement ends at the fog line.
