LEWISTOWN -- Glacier built a five-run lead through 6.5 innings and held on for a 8-4 victory over Laurel in the State A American Legion baseball championship game at Ryan Sparks Field late Saturday night.
The game was originally scheduled to begin at 4 p.m., but was delayed by lightning and rain and didn't start until 9 p.m.
The Dodgers (48-17) were the defending state champions and had won the Class A title in four of the previous five seasons.
Laurel rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh to get within one run, 5-4. Kameron Fisher, Trevor Meier and Jacob Anderson had RBIs in the frame.
Glacier responded with three runs in the top of the eighth to extend its lead to 8-4. Tristan Steinwand hit a run-scoring double and Jesse Walburn plated a runner with a single for two of the insurance runs.
Glacier will represent Montana at the regional tourney in Alaska.
