The Billings Royals began play on Friday at the Gopher Classic in Minnesota by blanking Woodbury Blue, Minn., 6-0 and Omaha Roncalli, Neb., 1-0 in American Legion baseball.
Both games were shortened to five innings after rain interrupted tournament play.
In the Royals' second game of the day, Bryan Mitchell threw a two-hitter against Omaha. He struck out four and walked none.
Konner Wiechman drove in the game's only run in the first inning. The Royals had just three hits, including a double by Matt Dillon.
The Royals are now 31-11 on the season.
In the first game, Austin Vogel went the distance for the pitching win. He allowed just three hits, while striking out two and walking two.
The Royals pounded out seven hits, including doubles by Tanner Leenknecht and Wiechman.
Wiechman, Leenknecht and Mitchell had two hits apiece for Billings.
Joe Zimmer drove in two runs for the Royals, who scored four of their runs in the fourth inning.
