The Billings Royals eclipsed the 40-win plateau with two victories over conference foe Lethbridge on Tuesday at Dehler Park.
Billings won the first game 7-2 behind a 2 for 3, three-RBI showing by leadoff hitter Joe Zimmer. Starting pitcher Bryan Mitchell scattered six hits and struck out five in six innings, and also tripled and scored two runs.
In the second game, a 14-2 victory, Konner Wiechman and Baylee Slevira each drove in three runs. Austin Vogel allowed six hits in five innings to earn the victory on the mound.
The wins bumped the Royals’ overall record to 41-13 and to 13-6 in the league.
The Royals have three games remaining in the regular season, beginning with a matchup with Bozeman at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Pirtz Field. The state tournament begins Tuesday in Lethbridge, Alberta.
