SEATTLE -- The Portland (Ore.) Baseball Club rallied to beat the Billings Scarlets 9-8 on Sunday on a ninth-inning single by Alex O’Rourke.
The Scarlets built an 8-2 lead in the fifth inning, thanks to a two-run home run by Jalen Garcia in the third and run-scoring hits by Shelby Zorn and Jake McGovern in the fifth. But Portland pushed five runs across in the sixth, aided by an RBI double from Tanner Marsh.
O’Rourke won it with two outs in the ninth with a base hit that scored Jacob Bennett.
McGovern went 3 for 5 for the Scarlets, and Garcia finished with three RBIs. Cole Jones scored three runs.
The Scarlets finished the Seattle tournament with a 2-2-1 record, and now sit at 14-6-1 overall. They next play in the Goldsmith Gallery Jewelers/Make-A-Wish tournament at Dehler Park beginning Friday.
