LAKEWOOD, N.J. (AP) -- Edward Cabrera didn't allow a hit in six innings, leading the Greensboro Grasshoppers over the Lakewood BlueClaws in a 1-0 win on Monday.
Cabrera struck out three and walked two.
The game's only run was scored in the top of the eighth inning. After leading off the inning with a single, Marcos Rivera advanced to second on a walk by B.J. Lopez, went to third on a walk by Zach Sullivan, and then scored on a single by Aaron Knapp.
Bryce Howe (1-0) got the win with two innings of scoreless, one-hit relief while Zach Warren (0-1) took the loss in the South Atlantic League game. R.J. Peace retired the side in order for his first save of the season.
The BlueClaws were blanked for the first time this season, while the Grasshoppers' staff also registered their first shutout of the year.
