GREAT FALLS – Alberti Chavez’s two-RBI single in the 17th inning gave the Billings Mustangs a 3-1 win over the Greats Falls Voyagers late Friday night.

It is the longest game in the Pioneer League this season.

Idaho Falls defeated Odgen 9-8 in 16 innings Tuesday.

Argenis Aldazoro opened with a single to right field and stole second.

Brian O’Grady drew a walk and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Cory Thompson as Aldazoro advanced to third.

Chavez hit the game-winner to left field.

The teams combined for 25 hits and 23 strikeouts. Chavez and Aldazoro each had two.

Ty Sterner, who pitched the last two innings, earned the win to improve to 2-0.

The two teams went 14 scoreless innings before the Mustangs scored in the top of the 15th when O’Grady scored on an error.

The Voyagers answered with an RBI single by Ethan Gross.

The teams play again Saturday.
