HELENA — A throwing error in the bottom of the 13th inning proved costly for the Billings Mustangs on Thursday night as the Helena Brewers walked off with a 6-5 win.
Mustangs' third basemen Leandro Santana had an errant throw to open the bottom of the 13th, allowing Payton Henry to reach second base on the error. The Brewers eventually loaded the bases before Jose Gomez singled in the winning run.
The Mustangs were down by four runs by the end of the second inning, but eventually completed a comeback when Jeter Downs homered in the seventh inning. The game remained deadlocked at five until the 13th inning.
Billings will finish its two-game series with Helena on Friday night. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m., at Kindrick Legion Field in Helena.
