HELENA – The Billings Mustangs couldn’t hold a four-run lead and saw their three-game winning streak come to an end in an 8-6 loss to the Helena Brewers on Wednesday night.

The Mustangs were seeking their season-high fourth straight win, but a 5-1 lead evaporated in a five-run sixth inning for the Brewers. Mike Saunders (0-1) allowed five runs on three hits and two walks in just a third of an inning after starter Soid Marquez had limited the Brewers to one run over five innings.

Argenis Aladazoro had three doubles for the Mustangs, while Kevin Franklin also had three hits, finishing a triple shy of the cycle. Franklin’s second home run of the season gave the Mustangs a 2-1 lead in the fourth, which was extended with three more runs in the fifth.

The teams play again on Thursday night in Helena.
