OREM, Utah -- Orem erupted for eight runs in the third inning and rolled to a 13-5 Pioneer League victory over the Mustangs on Monday at Brent Brown Ballpark.

It was the final game for the Mustangs on their seven-game, nine day trip. The team opens a four-game series with Missoula on Wednesday at Dehler Park.

Fran Whitten hit his seventh home run of the season in the third, a three-run shot that gave Orem a 5-1 lead. Quinten Davis, Caleb Adams and Andrew Daniel delivered RBI singles for the Owlz in the inning.

Owlz starter Arjenis Fernandez (8-4) was solid through six innings, allowing one earned run while striking out seven and not giving up a walk.

Argenis Aldazoro hit a three-run homer, his sixth of the year, for the Mustangs in the seventh.

It was the Mustangs’ only loss in Orem. They won the series three games to one. The Mustangs went 4-3 on their road trip.
