MISSOULA -- The Billings Mustangs rallied for two runs in the ninth but fell short, losing 6-4 to Missoula on Tuesday at Ogren Park at Allegiance Field.

Trailing by four, Shed Long hit a two-out, two run double to pull the Mustangs within two runs, but Ty Washington popped out to shortstop to end the game.

Billings led early when Cory Thompson hit his third home run of the year, a solo shot in the first. But the Osprey countered with three in their half of the first, highlighted by a two-run double by Trevor Mitsui. Mitsui later hit a solo homer in the fifth, his third of the year.

Gabriel Moya (2-0) allowed four hits in six innings, helping the Osprey gain sole possession of first place in the North division. Mustangs starter Wyatt Strahan (0-2) took the loss.

Billings and Missoula play the second game of their four-game series on Wednesday.
