GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -- Division-leading Billings and Grand Junction exchanged wins Thursday night in a Pioneer League doubleheader.

The Mustangs won the first game 7-2, while the Rockies won the second 8-3. Both were seven-inning contests.

Left fielder Jimmy Pickens hit a two-run home run in the second inning and Billings, leading the Northern Division, went on to beat Grand Junction, the Southern Division leaders, in the opener.

With the score tied at 2-2, the Mustangs broke the game open with a five-run fourth inning.

Alex Greer delivered a two-run double and later stole home. Aristides Aquino also supplied a two run double during the onslaught.

Billings had 10 hits in the game. Garrett Boulware, Pickens and Greer had two apiece.

Jose Williams, who came on in relief of starter Wyatt Strahan in the fifth inning, earned the win for the Mustangs. Along with reliever Jordan Remer, the three Billings pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts.

In the nightcap, the Rockies broke open a 4-3 game with a four-run sixth inning. Forrest Wall led off the inning with a home run.

Javier Palacios pitched five innings of five-hit ball for Grand Junction to get the win.

Two of Billings' seven hits were solo home runs by Argenis Aldazoro and Greer.

Billings will be in Orem on Friday night to begin a three-game series against the Owlz.
