HELENA — Five Grizzlies and four Bobcats received preseason All-Big Sky Conference football honors.

Montana defensive end Zach Wagenmann of Missoula was named the preseason defensive MVP.

Other Montana players to earn first-team honors are: offensive guard Trevor Poole, wide receiver Ellis Henderson, defensive tackle Tonga Takai and safety Matt Hermanson.

The Montana State players earning preseason honors are: offensive guard JP Flynn, return specialist Shawn Johnson, cornerback Deonte Flowers and special teams player Chad Newell of Billings.

The preseason offensive MVP is Eastern Washington quarterback Vernon Adams. Adams is one of six Eastern Washington players honored.

What a fiasco. Central Arkansas made a huge comeback in the fourth quarter against the Bobcats, but MSU held on for a 43-33 victory. The game was well in hand for MSU early, and that became dangerous as the Bears fought back.
