MOSCOW, Idaho — Athletes from Montana and Montana State captured titles at the Big Sky Conference outdoor track and field championships Thursday and Friday at the Dan O’Brien Track Complex.
Notably, MSU’s Kyle Douglass, of Missoula, recorded a lifetime-best throw to win the discus when he registered a mark of 192 feet, 5 inches. Chris Lange of Missoula and Jadin Casey of Stevensville helped the Bobcats’ win the 1,600-meter relay with a time of 3:12.27.
Montana State’s men placed third in the overall team standings with 119 points. MSU’s women placed fourth overall with 77 points.
Montana’s Carly Smiedala, of Helena captured the women’s 800 meter race with a time of 2:07.66. The UM women scored 40 total points, good for 10th place. The Griz men were ninth with 36 points.
Elsewhere, North Dakota’s Brandon Quesenberry, a graduate of Billings West, placed third in the shot put with a throw of 57-10½.
