BOZEMAN -- Montana State announced its football captains at the conclusion of the Sonny Holland spring scrimmage Saturday at Bobcat Stadium.

Senior linebacker Na’a Moeakiola, senior linebacker Cole Moore, senior tight end Tiai Salanoa and senior offensive lineman Quinn Catalano were voted captains for the 2014 season.

It is the second straight year that Moeakiola will be a captain. He was also voted captain last spring before missing the 2013 season with a shoulder injury. Salanoa is the fourth tight end to serve as captain at MSU in the past decade, joining Joe Schreibeis, Elliott Barnhart at Blake Wolf.

Catalano’s selection marks the 13th time an offensive lineman has been named captain since 2003. Moore ascended to the captaincy after walking on from Whitehouse Station, N.J. in 2010.

“We’ve always had great captains here at Montana State,” coach Rob Ash said. “I think this year’s team did a great job picking guys that lead by example with hard work and performance, but also vocally. I think this is an excellent group of captains.”
