BOZEMAN -- Eight months of preparation culminates Monday at 2:30 p.m. when Rob Ash assembles his eighth Montana State football team for the first of 23 preseason practices leading to the team’s season opener Aug. 30 at Arkansas State.

Ash welcomes 13 starters, as well as returning All-America Shawn Johnson, to the MSU practice fields. The Cats get back to work Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 9:15 a.m. After an off day Friday, the team’s first full contact session of fall camp takes place Saturday.

During the middle two weeks of camp, MSU’s regular schedule includes two practices daily on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, singles on Tuesday and Thursday. The team tentatively plans to stage some type of scrimmage on Aug. 9 and Aug. 16, with the exact scale to be determined, breaking camp on Aug. 20 and moving into game week mode Aug. 23.

The Big Sky Conference coaches and media each tabbed the Bobcats third in preseason polls.
